What is ABA Therapy?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the scientific approach of changing human behavior in the natural environment.
How does ABA therapy work?
Applied Behavior Analysis is effective because it employs scientifically-based and conceptually-systematic principles of behavior to make successive improvements in your child’s behavior. The procedures used by our behavior technicians are routinely published and revised in the peer-reviewed Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis and we only employ behavior change procedures that have been previously implemented and demonstrated significant results.
How does my therapist use ABA therapy with my child?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the scientific approach of changing human behavior in the natural environment. Using ABA, our professionals identify your child’s motivations and develop programs and procedures to best fit your family’s needs. We collect data on your child’s behavior, analyze it, and graph the results so you, as a parent or caregiver, will be able to visually see the progress that your child is making.
Why is it effective?
Behavior technicians then implement treatments and programs grounded in systematic manipulations and frequently replicated procedures. The focus of the interventions is to make meaningful changes in behavior that will have the greatest impact in improving everyday life.
How does it work in the real world?
Enhancing and improving lives are the ultimate goals of Applied Behavior Analysis. Analysts focus their efforts on socially significant behaviors that improve the day-to-day aspects of clients’ lives. Areas such as: Social interactions, Language skills, Academic progress, Daily living skills, Self-care, Vocational skills, Recreation and leisure.
Where does therapy happen?
Life happens everywhere. If you identify a problem, we will strive to meet those needs in that environment. We perform ABA therapy in home, at the clinic, in school, even at your grocery store or restaurant.
How does ABA therapy impact other parts of my child’s life?
Behavior Analysts seek for generalization of newly acquired behaviors. In other words, the behavior change will start working in other areas of your child’s life, even after treatment is concluded. Positive reinforcement techniques have been proven to greatly extend the longevity of behavior improvements.
